COVID19 & Infections Control

Health & Safety.  Risk Management.

If you would like to see my full risk assessment please ask.  In summary we will be taking the following steps in order to keep everyone safe in light of the recent COVID19 pandemic:

Class sizes and social distancing

  • Class sizes will be restricted to 4 children (plus parents) to ensure that social distancing of 2 metres can take place in our learning room.   It is your responsibility to ensure your child follows social distancing guidelines also.

  • Unfortunately younger siblings will not be able to attend due to space restrictions and in order to help social distancing.

  • There will be markers on the floor in my learning room to help you and your child observe social distancing.

  • When you arrive please place your belongings at least 1 metre apart from others in the entrance area and only bring necessary items into the learning room.  Please also avoid prolonged gathering in the entrance hall upon entering and leaving the premises.

Clean hands and equipment

  • Please use the hand sanitizer available upon arriving and leaving the premises, and any time in between that you wish.  Alternatively you can use the washroom to clean your hands with the soap and sink provided.

  • Any equipment that your child uses during the session will go into the ‘Scrub tub’ after use, so that it can be adequately cleaned in between classes.

  • Items that cannot be properly cleaned will either be emitted from the class or will be one time use only. (I will ask that you please bring your own Playdough each week for ‘Play dough disco’ and if you do not have any, I will have tubs available to purchase)

  • I completely understand that these classes are for little ones and even our 2, 3 and 4 year olds still ‘mouth’ toys at times.  If you notice this happen, please pop the item in the ‘Scrub tub’

  • There will also be tissues and bins available for your use, to catch sneezes and coughs.  However if you know your child is unwell, please do not bring them to our sessions until they are better and please see the below information about class exclusions.

  • The toilet will be available for use if needed but please try to encourage your child to use the toilet before you arrive, to limit the amount of usage.  Disposable paper towels will be provided for drying hands, so that there is no cross contamination with hand towels.  Please use the dettol spray after use, to spray down the toilet seat, taps and door handles. (The bathroom will be thoroughly cleaned in between classes by myself)

Face Coverings

  • It is now mandatory for adults to wear face coverings in most indoor spaces, therefore I ask you to please wear a face covering (a face mask or visor) unless you are exempt from doing so.  If you do not have your mask, you will not be allowed to enter.  If you forget, I will have disposable masks available to purchase)

  • Children are not required to wear a face mask.

  • As the class leader I am not required to wear a face mask, and feel it would not be suitable for me to do so, in order to show the children the phonetic sounds adequately.

Class exclusions

  • If you, your child or any member of your household is displaying any Coronavirus symptoms, please do not attend class and follow the government’s guidelines regarding testing.  The details you have provided me with will be used if needed for test and trace circumstances.

  • Please also, do not attend sessions if your child has a cough or cold, in order to avoid spreading germs.  We have the right to ask you to leave a session if you do not adhere to this.

By signing up to classes you are agreeing to adhere to the social distancing and infections control measures listed above.  Attending our classes is at your own risk and you are responsible for your child at all times.

If you have any further questions regarding safety, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Government guidelines are changing all the time, so the above information is subject to change.  I will inform customers who have signed up to classes of any changes, but please keep an eye on this page for changes.
